Adjective position: before or after the noun
In Spanish, most adjectives come after the noun (unlike English):
- una camisa roja — a red shirt
- unos zapatos negros — black shoes
- una falda azul — a blue skirt
Some common adjectives can go before the noun for emphasis or style:
- un buen precio — a good price
- una gran oferta — a great deal
Agreement (concordancia)
Adjectives must agree in gender and number with the noun:
- Singular: rojo (masculine) / roja (feminine)
- Plural: rojos (masculine) / rojas (feminine)
Some adjectives have only one form for both genders: verde, azul, marrón, gris.
- un jersey verde / una falda verde
- unos pantalones azules / unas camisas azules
Talking about materials
Use de + material to describe what something is made of:
- una chaqueta de cuero — a leather jacket
- una camisa de algodón — a cotton shirt
- un jersey de lana — a wool jumper
- un vestido de seda — a silk dress
Ejemplo: "Quiero una camisa blanca de algodón y unos pantalones negros." — "I want a white cotton shirt and black trousers."
