- Tenho de ir às finanças. (I have to go to the tax office.)
Passive Voice for Bureaucratic Processes
The voz passiva is common in administrative language:
- O formulário é preenchido pelo cidadão. (The form is filled in by the citizen.)
- A certidão foi emitida ontem. (The certificate was issued yesterday.)
"É preciso" + Infinitive
A common impersonal construction for requirements:
- É preciso trazer o cartão de cidadão. (It's necessary to bring the citizen card.)
- É preciso preencher este formulário. (You need to fill in this form.)
Useful Administrative Verbs
- Preencher um formulário = to fill in a form
- Entregar documentos = to submit documents
