Colors and materials in Korean
Color adjectives in Korean: Colors work as adjectives and come before the noun or stand alone as predicates.
- 빨간 셔츠예요 — It is a red shirt
- 이 옷은 파란색이에요 — These clothes are blue
- 검은 가방이 있어요 — I have a black bag
Shortened color forms (used before nouns):
- 빨간 (red), 파란 (blue), 노란 (yellow), 초록 (green), 하얀 (white), 검은 (black)
Describing materials: Use ~(으)로 만들었어요 — made of ~
- 이 가방은 가죽으로 만들었어요 — This bag is made of leather
- 이 셔츠는 면으로 만들었어요 — This shirt is made of cotton
Asking about color / material:
- 무슨 색이에요? — What color is it?
- 무슨 소재예요? — What material is it?
