Passive Perfect: is bijgewerkt
The passive perfect describes completed actions where the focus is on what happened, not who did it. It is very common in technical contexts.
Formation
zijn + past participle (passive perfect)
- Ze hebben de software bijgewerkt. → De software is bijgewerkt.
- Iemand heeft het probleem opgelost. → Het probleem is opgelost.
- Ze hebben de update geïnstalleerd. → De update is geïnstalleerd.
Common Technical Passives
- De verbinding is verbroken. (The connection has been lost.)
- Uw wachtwoord is gewijzigd. (Your password has been changed.)
- Het systeem is hersteld. (The system has been restored.)
- De fout is gemeld. (The error has been reported.)
worden vs. zijn in Passive
- worden + past participle = present passive (process): De software wordt bijgewerkt. (The software is being updated.)
- zijn + past participle = passive perfect (result): De software is bijgewerkt. (The software has been updated.)
Negative Passive
