Adjective position: before or after the noun
In Spanish, most adjectives come after the noun (unlike English):
- *una camisa roja* — a red shirt
- *unos zapatos negros* — black shoes
- *una falda azul* — a blue skirt
Some common adjectives can go before the noun for emphasis or style:
- *un buen precio* — a good price
- *una gran oferta* — a great deal
Agreement (concordancia)
Adjectives must agree in gender and number with the noun:
- Singular: rojo (masculine) / roja (feminine)
- Plural: rojos (masculine) / rojas (feminine)
Some adjectives have only one form for both genders: *verde, azul, marrón, gris*.
- *un jersey verde* / *una falda verde*
- *unos pantalones azules* / *unas camisas azules*
Talking about materials
Use de + material to describe what something is made of:
- *una chaqueta de cuero* — a leather jacket
- *una camisa de algodón* — a cotton shirt
- *un jersey de lana* — a wool jumper
- *un vestido de seda* — a silk dress
Ejemplo: "Quiero una camisa blanca de algodón y unos pantalones negros." — "I want a white cotton shirt and black trousers."
