Time Prepositions
Portuguese uses different prepositions depending on what follows:
Days of the week → use na/no (or nothing in informal speech):
- Na segunda-feira → On Monday
- Ao sábado → On Saturdays (habitual)
Months → use em:
- Em janeiro → In January
- Em março → In March
Time of day → use de/à:
- De manhã → In the morning
- À noite → At night
💬 Example: "Na terça-feira vou ao médico." → "On Tuesday I go to the doctor."
Note: Unlike English, days of the week and months are NOT capitalized in Portuguese: segunda-feira, janeiro.

Common mistakes
Em segunda-feiraNa segunda-feiraUse na (not em) before days of the week.
No JaneiroEm janeiroUse em (not no) before months. Also, no capital letter.
SegundaSegunda-feiraThe full form includes -feira. Segunda alone is informal.
Na noiteÀ noiteUse à noite (not na noite) for at night.
Eu vou amanhã segundaEu vou na próxima segundaUse na próxima for next + day of the week.
