"In my country, we..."

  • In my country, we shake hands when we meet someone.
  • In Italy, we usually greet friends with a kiss on both cheeks.

"Compared to..."

  • Compared to England, people in Spain eat dinner much later.
  • Compared to Japan, dress codes in Australia are quite casual.

"Whereas..."

Per esprimere un contrasto nella stessa frase:

  • In the UK, people queue politely, whereas in some countries, pushing ahead is normal.
  • In Japan, bowing is a sign of respect, whereas in the West, people prefer handshakes.

Altre espressioni utili

  • It is considered rude to... → È considerato maleducato...
  • It is common to... → È comune...
  • People tend to... → Le persone tendono a...

Espressioni

  • In my country, we tend to...Per descrivere un'abitudine della tua cultura
  • It's considered rude to...Per spiegare cosa è maleducato
  • Compared to other countries...Per fare un confronto culturale

Errori frequenti

  • In my country, we are shake hands
In my country, we shake hands

  • Compared with England, France is more formal
Compared to England, France is more formal

Si dice "compared to" (non "compared with" in questo contesto comune)

  • It is considered rude do that
It is considered rude to do that

Dopo "it is considered rude" si usa "to" + infinito

  • Whereas but in Japan...
    Whereas in Japan...

"Whereas" sostituisce già "but" — non servono entrambi

  • In my country, people is friendly
In my country, people are friendly

    'People' è plurale, usa 'are'.

  • I am not habituated to this
I am not used to this

'Used to' e non 'habituated' in inglese comune.
