Spanish political discourse relies on powerful rhetorical techniques. Anáfora involves repeating a word at the start of sentences: "Queremos justicia, queremos libertad, queremos paz." Tricolon groups three elements to create a memorable rhythm. Emotional appeal uses evocative language to move the audience: "Nuestros hijos merecen un futuro mejor." To analyze a speech, identify the encuadre (framing): how is the problem presented? Spot the narrativa (narrative): who is the hero, who is the villain? Watch for manipulación through simplistic slogans. Analyze the verbs: "apelar a los sentimientos" (appeal to feelings) versus "fundamentar con datos" (support with data). Understanding these tools helps you become a critical listener and reader of Spanish media.
