Irregular Past Forms & Describing a Trip

Some Korean verbs have slightly irregular past forms due to vowel contraction or stem changes. Here are the most common ones:

가다 (go) → 갔어요 (went) — 가 + 았 contracts to 갔
오다 (come) → 왔어요 (came) — 와 + 았 contracts to 왔
자다 (sleep) → 잤어요 (slept) — 자 + 았 contracts to 잤
보다 (see/watch) → 봤어요 (saw) — 보 + 았 contracts to 봤
머물다 (stay) → 머물렀어요 (stayed) — ㄹ irregular

To say something was fun or enjoyable, use 재미있었어요 (it was fun/interesting). For other feelings after a trip:

재미있었어요 — it was fun
피곤했어요 — I was tired
좋았어요 — it was good
힘들었어요 — it was tough

To describe where you went: 에 갔어요 (went to a place)

산에 갔어요 — went to the mountain
바다에 갔어요 — went to the sea
