Ordering at a Korean Restaurant
Korean restaurants often have a call button on the table (여기요! / 저기요!).
Calling the server and ordering:
- 여기요! / 저기요! → Excuse me! (to call the waiter)
- 주문할게요 → I would like to order
- 비빔밥 하나 주세요 → One bibimbap please
- 뭐가 맛있어요? → What is delicious here?
- 추천해 주세요 → Please recommend something
Counters for food:
- 하나 (one serving), 둘 (two), 셋 (three) with items
- 비빔밥 하나, 불고기 둘 주세요 → One bibimbap, two bulgogi please
Spiciness:
- 맵지 않게 해 주세요 → Please make it not spicy
- 조금 맵게 해 주세요 → Please make it a little spicy
After eating:
- 맛있었어요 → It was delicious
- 계산해 주세요 → The bill please

자주 하는 실수
저기요 주문이요저기요! 주문할게요Use 주문할게요 (I will order) as the full verb form, not 주문이요 which sounds incomplete
비빔밥 한 개 주세요비빔밥 하나 주세요For food servings, use the native number directly: 하나, 둘, not with the counter 개
맵게 하지 마세요맵지 않게 해 주세요A more natural way to say not spicy is 맵지 않게 해 주세요
맛있어요 감사해요맛있었어요. 감사합니다.Use past tense 맛있었어요 to say it was delicious (you already ate it)
영수증이 주세요영수증 주세요No particle is needed before 주세요 for simple requests; 영수증 주세요 is natural
