Talking About Future Plans
Japanese has two key ways to discuss plans. Verb つもりです expresses a personal intention: 京都に行くつもりです (I intend to go to Kyoto). Use the dictionary form before つもり. For negative intentions: 行かないつもりです (I don't intend to go).
Verb 予定です states a more fixed schedule: 来週出発する予定です (I'm scheduled to depart next week). This sounds more concrete than つもり.
To ask about plans, say 休みに何をするつもりですか (What do you plan to do on your break?). For travel specifics: ホテルを予約しましたか (Did you book a hotel?), いつ出発しますか (When do you depart?). Combine with time expressions like 来月 (next month), 夏休み (summer vacation), and 週末 (weekend) to discuss travel plans naturally.
