Writing an Opinion Article in Hindi
Hindi op-ed writing blends journalistic directness with literary tradition. Advanced participial constructions give opinion pieces their sophisticated tone.
Advanced Participles (उन्नत कृदंत):
Having considered: विचार करने के पश्चात / विचार करते हुए Given that: इस तथ्य को देखते हुए कि Having established: यह स्थापित करने के बाद कि Bearing in mind: इस बात को ध्यान में रखते हुए कि
Op-Ed Structure in Hindi: 1. आकर्षक शीर्षक (Compelling headline — often a question or provocation) 2. परिचय (Hook — anecdote, statistic, or bold claim) 3. संदर्भ स्थापना (Context — what is at stake) 4. तर्क (Argument — with evidence and acknowledgment of counterviews) 5. निष्कर्ष (Conclusion — call to action or rhetorical close)
Register Distinction:
- Academic Hindi: uses तथापि, यद्यपि, अतः
- Journalistic Hindi: uses लेकिन, क्योंकि, तो, इसलिए
- Op-Ed blends both: formal argument in accessible language
