  ✓Es gab einen Unfall.

  For "there was", use es gab (from geben), not es war.

  ✓Helfen Sie mir!

  The polite imperative requires Sie: Helfen Sie mir!

• ✗Ich habe verloren meine Tasche.
  ✓Ich habe meine Tasche verloren.

  The past participle (verloren) goes at the end of the sentence.
