협상에 쓰는 조건문 2형
조건문 2형(second conditional)은 협상에 딱 맞는 도구예요. 가정을 세워 제안할 수 있거든요. 한국어의 '-면 ~할 텐데요'와 자리가 같아요.
형태 : If + 과거형, would + 동사원형
- If we offered a 10% discount, would you place a larger order?
- If you agreed to a longer contract, we would lower the price.
"if" 뒤에 과거형을 쓰지만, 말하는 내용은 지금이나 앞으로의 가정이에요. 과거 이야기가 아니에요.
제안하기
- What if we offered free delivery?
- How would you feel if we extended the deadline?
- Would you consider a different payment plan?
받아들이거나 거절하기
- That sounds like a fair deal.
- I'm afraid that doesn't work for us.
- We could agree to that if you met us halfway.
역제안하기
- I appreciate your offer, but what if we suggested...?
- We can't accept those terms, however we could offer...

자주 하는 실수
If we would offer a discount...If we offered a discount...조건문 2형의 if절에는 would를 쓰지 않아요.
If we offered a discount, we will signIf we offered a discount, we would sign가정이니까 결과절에는 will이 아니라 would를 써요.
I afraid that doesn't workI'm afraid that doesn't work'I afraid'가 아니라 be동사를 넣어 'I'm afraid'라고 해요.
We can't accept this termsWe can't accept these terms'terms'는 복수라서 this가 아니라 these를 써요.
We should to discuss the priceWe should discuss the price'should' 뒤에는 to를 붙이지 않아요.
I am interesting in your offerI am interested in your offerinteresting이 아니라 형용사 interested를 써요.
