Handling difficult questions in Dutch requires diplomatic language that acknowledges the question while steering the conversation productively.
Acknowledging: *Ik begrijp uw bezorgdheid.* (I understand your concern.), *Dat is een belangrijk punt.* (That is an important point.).
Bridging to your message: *Laat ik het in een breder perspectief plaatsen.* (Let me put it in a broader perspective.), *De achterliggende vraag is eigenlijk...* (The underlying question is actually...).
Polite avoidance: *Dat is helaas niet mijn expertisegebied.* (That is unfortunately not my area of expertise.), *Daar kan ik op dit moment niet op ingaan.* (I cannot go into that at this time.).
Reformulating the question: *Als ik uw vraag goed begrijp...* (If I understand your question correctly...), *U vraagt zich eigenlijk af of...* (What you are actually wondering is whether...).
Buying time: *Dat is een goede vraag. Laat me daar even over nadenken.* (That is a good question. Let me think about that for a moment.).
The key is to never appear flustered. Acknowledge, bridge, and redirect with confidence.

Ik kan daar niet over praten.Daar kan ik op dit moment niet op ingaan.Professional contexts require diplomatic phrasing, not blunt refusal.
Dat is een domme vraag.Dat is een interessante invalshoek.Never dismiss a question; reframe it positively.
Ik weet het antwoord niet.Ik zou dat moeten nakijken en kom er op terug.Offer to follow up rather than admitting ignorance.
U heeft ongelijk.Ik zie het vanuit een ander perspectief.Diplomatic disagreement avoids direct contradiction.
De vraag achterliggend is...De achterliggende vraag is...The adjective achterliggend precedes the noun in Dutch.
