よくある間違い

• ✗She turned down it
  ✓She turned it down

  代名詞の場合、分離可能な句動詞は必ず分離する。代名詞は間に入る。

• ✗I came an article across
  ✓I came across an article

  「come across」は分離不可能。目的語は常に副詞の後に置く。

• ✗He put up with it no more
  ✓He couldn't put up with it anymore

  否定は「can't / couldn't... anymore」で表す。文末の「no more」は不自然。

• ✗We need to carry the plan out
  ✓We need to carry out the plan

  「carry out」は技術的に分離可能だが、長い目的語の場合は一緒にする。

• ✗They phased out gradually the old system.
  ✓They gradually phased out the old system.

  副詞graduallyは句動詞の前に置きます。正しい構造は副詞＋句動詞＋目的語です。

• ✗She owned up her mistake to the team.
  ✓She owned up to her mistake in front of the team.

  own upは常にtoと共に使います（own up to something）。前置詞toはこの表現から切り離せません。
