未来の表し方:will と going to

ロードトリップを計画するときは、予定や決断について話す必要があります。英語には未来を表す2つの主な形があります。

going to — 前もって決めていた予定

be + going to + 動詞の原形

すでに決めていることを話すときは going to を使います。

• We are going to visit the Scottish Highlands. → スコットランドのハイランド地方を訪れる予定です。
• She is going to book the campsites in advance. → 彼女は前もってキャンプ場を予約する予定です。
• I am going to drive the first leg. → 私が最初の区間を運転する予定です。

will — その場での決断や約束

will + 動詞の原形

話しているその瞬間に決めたことや、約束を伝えるときは will を使います。

• "We need fuel." — "I'll stop at the next service station."(その場での即決)
• I'll help you plan the route.(約束)
• Don't worry — it will be an amazing trip!(一般的な予測)

予測:going to と will の違い

• going to = 目に見える証拠がある予測:Look at the map — we're going to get lost!
• will = 個人的な意見・確信による予測:I think it will be the best trip of our lives.

具体例

• We're going to take the scenic route through Wales.
• If we get tired, we'll stop at a service station.
• I'm going to plan the itinerary tonight.
• I think it'll take about five hours to reach the destination.
