よくある間違い

  despiteの後には直接名詞や名詞句が続きます。「of」は不要です。

• ✗However it is expensive, it is worth it.
  ✓However, it is expensive, but it is worth it. / Although it is expensive, it is worth it.

  howeverはalthoughのように従属節を導くことはできません。主文の最初に使います。

• ✗The drawbacks overweigh the benefits.
  ✓The drawbacks outweigh the benefits.

  正しい動詞は「outweigh」（〜を上回る）で、「overweigh」ではありません。

• ✗On the other side,...
  ✓On the other hand,...

  正しい表現は「on the other hand」で、「on the other side」ではありません。

• ✗The advantage is that...
  ✓One advantage is that...

  複数の利点のうちの一つを示すにはoneを使います。
