文法ポイント
場所の前置詞
英語で場所を示すのに場所の前置詞を使います。道案内で欠かせない小さな言葉です。
💬 例： "The bank is next to the supermarket." = 「銀行はスーパーマーケットの隣にあります。」
最もよく使う3つの前置詞：
- next to = 〜の隣に
- between = 〜の間に
- opposite = 〜の向かいに
💬 例： "The pharmacy is between the bakery and the bank." = 「薬局はパン屋と銀行の間にあります。」
💬 例： "The bus stop is opposite the school." = 「バス停は学校の向かいにあります。」
道を聞く
場所を聞くには：
"Where is...?" または "Excuse me, where is...?"
💬 例： "Excuse me, where is the station?" = 「すみません、駅はどこですか？」
道案内の表現（命令形）
道を教えるときは命令形（主語なし）を使います：
- Go straight. = まっすぐ行ってください。
- Turn left / Turn right. = 左に曲がって / 右に曲がって。
- Cross the street. = 道を渡って。
💬 例： "Go straight, then turn left at the traffic lights." = 「まっすぐ行って、信号で左に曲がってください。」
表現
- Excuse me, where is...?場所を丁寧に尋ねるとき
- Is it far from here?遠いか確認するとき
- It's on your left / right.左側・右側にあると伝える
- Go straight ahead.まっすぐ行くよう伝える
- Take the first / second left.曲がる道を伝えるとき
- It's around the corner.角のすぐ先にあるとき
- You can't miss it.見つけやすいと安心させる
- It's a five-minute walk.歩いて5分かかると伝える
よくある間違い
Go to the left.Turn left / Go left.方向を指示するときは "turn left" または "go left"（"go to the left"とは言いません）
It's in front of the bank.It's opposite the bank."in front of"=すぐ目の前。"opposite"=道路の向かい側
It's in the left.It's on the left.「左側に」は "on the left"（"in"ではありません）
Go right on the traffic lights.Turn right at the traffic lights.地点を示すには "at"（"on"ではない）、方向変更には "turn"
