I modali di cortesia
Per comunicare educatamente con i vicini, i modali sono essenziali. Ecco le strutture più utili.
"Would you mind...?"
La formula più educata per chiedere qualcosa:
- Would you mind turning down the music?
- Would you mind not parking in front of my door?
Dopo "Would you mind" si usa il gerundio (-ing).
"Could you please...?"
Una richiesta educata ma diretta:
- Could you please keep the noise down after 10 pm?
- Could you please move your bins?
Più educato di "Can you...?" ma meno formale di "Would you mind...?"
"I was wondering if..."
Per introdurre una richiesta in modo molto delicato:
- I was wondering if you could keep it down a bit?
- I was wondering if it would be possible to share the parking space?
Questa struttura usa il passato progressivo per ammorbidire la richiesta. È molto britannico!
Rispondere con cortesia
- "Of course, no problem!" (accettare)
- "I''m sorry, I didn''t realise." (scusarsi)
- "I''ll try my best." (promettere)

Errori frequenti
