Combinare giorni e orari

"on Monday at 3 o'clock" → "lunedì alle 3"

"on Friday at 10:30" → "venerdì alle 10:30"

Ricorda: on + giorno, at + ora. È la regola d'oro.

"The appointment is on Tuesday at 2 p.m." → "L'appuntamento è martedì alle 14."

Chiedere disponibilità con "Is ... available?"

"Is Dr. Smith available on Thursday?" → "Il dottor Smith è disponibile giovedì?"

"Is 3 o'clock available?"

"Are you free on Wednesday afternoon?" → "Sei libero/a mercoledì pomeriggio?"

Confermare un appuntamento

Per confermare, si usano formule chiare:

"I'd like to confirm my appointment for Monday at 9 a.m."

"That works for me!" → "Mi va bene!"

"Perfect, see you then!" → "Perfetto, a quel momento!"

Errori frequenti

  • I have a rendez-vous Monday.
I have an appointment on Monday.

'Rendez-vous' è una parola francese; in inglese si dice 'appointment', e non dimenticare 'on' davanti al giorno.

  • The appointment is at Monday.
    The appointment is on Monday.

Si dice 'on' + giorno della settimana, mai 'at'. 'At' è per le ore (at 3 p.m.).

  • Are you free at Wednesday afternoon?
Are you free on Wednesday afternoon?

Stessa regola: 'on' per i giorni, non 'at'.

  • I want to cancel the appointment of Tuesday.
I want to cancel the Tuesday appointment. / I want to cancel my appointment on Tuesday.

Non si dice 'the appointment of Tuesday': il giorno va prima del nome oppure si usa 'on'.

  • What hour is the appointment?
    What time is the appointment?

In inglese si chiede 'what time', non 'what hour'.
