शब्दावली

Portuguese possessives agree in gender and number with the thing possessed (not the possessor):

💬 Example: "A minha mãe" → "My mother" (minha because mãe is feminine)
💬 Example: "O meu pai" → "My father" (meu because pai is masculine)

Ter is essential for talking about family:

💬 Example: "Eu tenho dois irmãos." → "I have two brothers."
💬 Example: "Ela tem uma filha." → "She has a daughter."

Note: In Portuguese, you always use the definite article with possessives: a minha mãe, o meu pai.
