Great Korean storytelling builds emotional arc using narrative time markers that create tension and deliver satisfaction.
갑자기 (suddenly) is the pivot marker — it signals an unexpected development that shifts the story: 그런데 갑자기 문이 열렸어요. (Then suddenly the door opened.) It works best after establishing normalcy.
드디어 (finally / at last) carries emotional weight — it implies a long wait or struggle has ended: 드디어 합격했어요! (I finally passed!) It creates catharsis.
그때 (at that time) anchors the narrative: 그때 저는 아무것도 몰랐어요. (At that time I knew nothing.) Use it to shift between past layers.
결국 (ultimately) delivers the moral or conclusion: 결국 중요한 것은 사람이었어요. (Ultimately, what mattered was people.)
Suspense technique: withhold the resolution — use 그런데... (but...) + 갑자기 to delay the climax and maximize listener engagement.

आम गलतियाँ
갑자기를 문장 맨 앞에서 여러 번 썼어요갑자기는 이야기의 결정적 전환점에 한 번만 써야 효과적입니다Using 갑자기 multiple times dilutes its impact; save it for the single most pivotal moment
드디어 밥을 먹었어요 (trivial event)드디어는 오랜 노력이나 기다림 끝에 이루어진 일에 씁니다드디어 implies a meaningful achievement after struggle; using it for mundane events sounds exaggerated
결국으로 이야기 중간을 끝냈어요결국은 이야기의 마지막 부분에서 최종 교훈이나 결론을 줄 때 씁니다결국 signals closure; placing it mid-story breaks narrative structure prematurely
그때그때 많이 썼어요 (without distinguishing time layers)그때를 쓸 때는 어느 시점인지 문맥이 명확해야 합니다그때 requires clear contextual anchoring — without it, the listener cannot track which past moment you mean
이야기에 긴장감이 없었어요 (flat narration)그런데...갑자기 구조를 사용하면 긴장감을 효과적으로 만들 수 있습니다Flat narration without 그런데/갑자기 pivot misses the suspense-building opportunity core to Korean storytelling
