Understanding cognitive biases in Korean requires two key grammatical patterns.
-는 경향이 있다 (there is a tendency to) describes systematic patterns of thinking or behavior: 사람들은 자신의 믿음을 확인하는 정보를 선호하는 경향이 있다. (People tend to prefer information that confirms their beliefs — confirmation bias.)
-기 쉽다 (it is easy to / prone to) expresses vulnerability to an error or bias: 감정적으로 판단하기 쉽다. (It is easy to judge emotionally.)
Key biases in Korean:
- 확증 편향: 자신의 의견을 지지하는 정보만 받아들이는 경향
- 고정관념: 특정 집단에 대한 단순화된 인식
- 합리화: 이미 내린 결정을 정당화하려는 경향
