Emergencies in Korean
In Korean emergencies, the key form is the imperative (command). The most important word is 도와주세요 (please help me).
Key emergency imperatives:
- 도와주세요 → Help me / Please help
- 빨리 오세요 → Come quickly
- 119에 전화해 주세요 → Please call 119
- 멈춰요! → Stop!
Korean emergency numbers:
- 119 → Fire and ambulance (소방서/구급차)
- 112 → Police (경찰)
Reporting emergencies:
- 사고가 났어요 → There has been an accident
- 불이 났어요 → There is a fire
- 도둑이에요 → There is a thief
- 위험해요 → It is dangerous
Location:
- 여기예요 → I am here / It is here
- 주소가 어떻게 돼요? → What is the address?
- 이 주소예요 → This is the address

आम गलतियाँ
도와줘요도와주세요도와주세요 is the polite imperative. 도와줘요 exists but 도와주세요 is more urgent and appropriate in emergencies
사고 났어요사고가 났어요사고 (accident) is the subject so it needs the subject particle 가: 사고가 났어요
119 전화해요119에 전화해 주세요Add 에 after the number to show direction of the call, and 주세요 to make a polite request
불이 있어요불이 났어요For fires, accidents, and symptoms, use 나다 (to break out / occur), not 있다 (to exist)
경찰 불러 줘경찰을 불러 주세요Use the polite -아/어 주세요 form, and add object particle 을 after 경찰
