"Avere" + pets and the articles il/la/i/le/un/una
"Ho un cane" — use "avere" to say you have a pet:
- Ho un cane. → I have a dog.
- Ho una gatta. → I have a female cat.
- Non ho animali. → I don't have any animals.
Definite and indefinite articles:
Masculine singular:
- il cane (the dog) / un cane (a dog)
- l' uccello (the bird) — before vowels
Feminine singular:
- la gatta (the female cat) / una gatta (a female cat)
- l' anatra (the duck) — before vowels
Masculine plural:
- i cani (the dogs)
- gli uccelli (the birds) — before vowel or z/s+cons.
Feminine plural:
- le gatte (the female cats)
