Citing Sources in Academic Hindi
Proper citation is the cornerstone of academic integrity. Hindi academic writing has specific conventions for acknowledging sources.
Direct Quotation (प्रत्यक्ष उद्धरण): Use guillemet or standard quotes with attribution:
- जैसा कि शर्मा (2019) ने कहा: "हिंदी साहित्य का विकास..."
- शर्मा के शब्दों में: "..."
- उनके अनुसार: "..."
Indirect Citation (अप्रत्यक्ष उद्धरण):
- शर्मा (2019) का तर्क है कि हिंदी साहित्य...
- इस विषय पर वर्मा (2020) ने विस्तृत विश्लेषण किया है।
In-text Citation Formats:
- Author-year: शर्मा (2019) के अनुसार
- Author only: शर्मा के मतानुसार
- Parenthetical: (शर्मा, 2019, पृ. 45)
Plagiarism Prevention:
- Always signal whose idea is whose: लेखक का मत / शोधकर्ता के अनुसार
- Paraphrase substantially — change both words AND structure
- Use सन्दर्भ (sandarbh) for reference sections
