Reporting Problems Politely in Hindi
Compound verbs for sudden events:
- मेरा पासपोर्ट खो गया। — My passport got lost. (खो + गया = got lost)
- मेरा बटुआ चोरी हो गया। — My wallet got stolen.
- मेरी चाबी गिर गई। — My key fell down.
The compound verb pattern verb + गया/गई/गए expresses completed events that happened suddenly or unexpectedly.
Asking for help politely:
- क्या आप मेरी मदद कर सकते हैं? — Can you help me?
- मुझे मदद चाहिए। — I need help.
- कृपया पुलिस को बुलाइए। — Please call the police.
At the police station:
- मैं शिकायत दर्ज करना चाहता/चाहती हूँ। — I want to file a complaint.
- यह कहाँ हुआ? — Where did this happen?
- कब हुआ? — When did it happen?
The compound verb हो गया (ho gaya) is used for events that happened to you unexpectedly — very natural and common in conversational Hindi
