Wild Animals — Talking About Nature and Wildlife

Describing animals you saw (past tense):

• हमने जंगल में बाघ देखा। (hamne jaṅgal meṁ bāgh dekhā) — We saw a tiger in the jungle.
• मैंने एक मोर देखा था। (maiṁne ek mor dekhā thā) — I had seen a peacock.
• वहाँ बहुत बंदर थे। (vahāṁ bahut bandar the) — There were many monkeys there.

बाघ (bāgh, tiger) is India's national animal. मोर (mor, peacock) is the national bird. Both are masculine nouns.

Talking about animal habits (present):

• हाथी पानी में नहाता है। (hāthī pānī meṁ nahātā hai) — The elephant bathes in water.
• शेर जंगल में रहता है। (śer jaṅgal meṁ rahtā hai) — The lion lives in the jungle.
• मोर बारिश में नाचता है। (mor bāriś meṁ nāchtā hai) — The peacock dances in the rain.

Future plans with wildlife:

• हम अगले हफ़्ते चिड़ियाघर जाएँगे। (ham agle hafte chiṛiyāghar jāeṅge) — We will go to the zoo next week.
• मैं जंगल सफ़ारी करूँगा। (maiṁ jaṅgal safārī karūṅgā) — I will do a jungle safari.

Describing animals:

• हाथी बहुत बड़ा होता है। (hāthī bahut baṛā hotā hai) — The elephant is very big.
• साँप ख़तरनाक हो सकता है। (sāṁp khatarnāk ho saktā hai) — The snake can be dangerous.
