Days, times and Ist... frei?
To make appointments in German, you need to master days and times:
Days of the week:
- Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Donnerstag, Freitag, Samstag, Sonntag
For a specific day: am + day:
- Am Montag habe ich Zeit. (On Monday I have time.)
- Am Freitag bin ich frei. (On Friday I am free.)
Asking about availability:
- Ist Montag frei? (Is Monday available?)
- Haben Sie am Dienstag einen Termin frei? (Do you have an appointment slot on Tuesday?)
- Passt Ihnen 10 Uhr? (Does 10 o'clock suit you?)
Suggesting and responding:
- Wie wäre es mit Donnerstag um 15 Uhr? (How about Thursday at 3 PM?)
- Das passt mir gut. (That works for me.)
- Das passt mir leider nicht. (Unfortunately that doesn't work for me.)
Confirming or canceling:
- Ich bestätige den Termin. (I confirm the appointment.)
- Ich muss den Termin leider absagen. (I unfortunately have to cancel.)
- Können wir den Termin verschieben? (Can we reschedule?)
