Telling Time
- Il est trois heures. — It is 3 o'clock.
- Il est trois heures et quart. — It is 3:15.
- Il est trois heures et demie. — It is 3:30.
- Il est quatre heures moins le quart. — It is 3:45 (quarter to four).
Key Rules
- Use il est (not c'est) for time
- Midi = noon, minuit = midnight (no heures needed)
- After 30, subtract from the next hour: moins
Il est midi. — It is noon.
Il est minuit et demi. — It is 12:30 AM. (note: demi, not demie after midi/minuit)
