ज़ोर और फोकस की संरचनाएँ
C1 स्तर पर ज़ोर केवल स्वराघात का विषय नहीं है। यह परिष्कृत व्याकरणिक संरचनाओं पर आधारित होता है, जो पाठक या श्रोता का ध्यान किसी खास जानकारी पर केंद्रित करती हैं।
Cleft sentences
Cleft sentences वाक्य के किसी भाग को अधिकतम महत्त्व देने के लिए उसकी स्थिति बदलती हैं।
It-cleft (सबसे सामान्य संरचना):
- संरचना: It is/was + highlighted element + who/that + rest of the sentence
- उदाहरण: It was the CEO who finally approved the budget. (अंततः बजट को मंज़ूरी CEO ने दी थी।)
- उदाहरण: It is transparency that builds lasting trust. (पारदर्शिता ही स्थायी विश्वास बनाती है।)
What-cleft (pseudo-cleft):
- संरचना: What + clause + is/was + highlighted element
- उदाहरण: What I find most troubling is the lack of accountability. (मुझे जो बात सबसे चिंताजनक लगती है, वह जवाबदेही की कमी है।)
- उदाहरण: What the data clearly shows is that consumer confidence has fallen. (आँकड़े साफ़ तौर पर यह दिखाते हैं कि उपभोक्ता विश्वास घटा है।)
फोकस करने वाले adverbs
ये adverbs वाक्य की संरचना बदले बिना किसी बात को उभारते हैं:
- Crucially, the evidence was never presented to the jury. (निर्णायक रूप से, साक्ष्य कभी जूरी के सामने पेश नहीं किए गए।)
- Notably, not a single dissenting voice was heard. (उल्लेखनीय रूप से, एक भी असहमति की आवाज़ नहीं सुनाई दी।)
- Significantly, attendance doubled after the redesign. (महत्वपूर्ण रूप से, पुनर्रचना के बाद उपस्थिति दोगुनी हो गई।)
आम गलतियाँ — ज़ोर और cleft sentences
- It was John who he signed the contract. → It was John who signed the contract.
It-cleft में relative pronoun (who/that) subject की जगह लेता है; इसलिए "he" को दोहराने की जरूरत नहीं है।
- What I need it is more time. → What I need is more time.
What-cleft की संरचना है: What + clause + is + highlighted element। "is" से पहले "it" नहीं जोड़ते।
- It is importantly to note that... → It is important to note that...
"Importantly" adverb है और "it is" के बाद नहीं आ सकता। "It is" के बाद adjective "important" लगाएँ, या वाक्य के आरंभ में "Importantly" रखें।
- Crucially the evidence shows the defendant guilty. → Crucially, the evidence shows the defendant to be guilty.
किसी अवस्था को व्यक्त करने के लिए "show" के बाद show + object + to be + adjective संरचना प्रयोग होती है।
- What the report reveals it is a systematic failure. → What the report reveals is a systematic failure.
What-cleft में relative clause की क्रिया और "is" के बीच "it" नहीं जोड़ा जाता।
वाक्यांश
