Le transhumanisme est le mouvement intellectuel qui prône l'utilisation de la technologie pour dépasser les limites biologiques de l'humanité. Il génère un champ lexical et une grammaire spécifiques.

Pour parler de possibilités futures non encore réalisées :
- *"If we were to achieve mind uploading..."* — subjonctif conditionnel irréel du présent
- *"Should consciousness prove to be computationally reducible..."* — conditionnel formel
- *"Were biological immortality to become achievable..."* — inversion conditionnelle
Le conditionnel philosophique
Le transhumanisme pose des questions qui requièrent le conditionnel de délibération :
- *"Would a digital copy of your mind be you?"*
- *"Could cognitive enhancement alter the nature of moral responsibility?"*
- *"Should we augment human intelligence if it creates new inequalities?"*
