La structure thème-propos et l'antéposition sont au cœur de l'organisation de l'information en néerlandais. L'élément placé en tête de phrase reçoit une emphase particulière ou installe le thème.
La règle V2 : en principale néerlandaise, le verbe conjugué occupe obligatoirement la deuxième position. N'importe quel élément peut donc être antéposé pour l'emphase :
- *Dat boek heb ik al gelezen.* (Ce livre-là, je l'ai déjà lu.)
- *Morgen gaan we naar Amsterdam.* (Demain, nous allons à Amsterdam.)
- *Van die film weet ik niets.* (De ce film, je ne sais rien.)
Pourquoi c'est important : la première position signale ce dont la phrase *parle* (le thème). L'information nouvelle ou importante vient plutôt ensuite (le propos). En antéposant tel ou tel élément, tu pilotes le flux d'information.
Antéposition contrastive : *Koffie wil ik wel, maar thee niet.* (Du café, oui, mais du thé, non.) L'élément antéposé crée un contraste explicite.
Groupes prépositionnels antéposés : *In de jaren negentig was alles anders.* (Dans les années quatre-vingt-dix, tout était différent.) *Met betrekking tot dit punt wil ik het volgende opmerken.* (Concernant ce point, je voudrais faire la remarque suivante.)
Erreur classique : après une antéposition, sujet et verbe doivent s'inverser. *Morgen we gaan...* est FAUX ; il faut *Morgen gaan we...*
Expressions
- Dat boek heb ik al gelezen.That book I have already read. (fronted object)
- Van die film weet ik niets.About that film I know nothing.
- Morgen gaan we naar Amsterdam.Tomorrow we are going to Amsterdam.
- Koffie wil ik wel, thee niet.Coffee I do want, tea I do not.
- In geen geval mag dit gebeuren.Under no circumstances may this happen.
- Zelden heb ik zoiets gezien.Rarely have I seen such a thing.

Morgen we gaan naar Amsterdam.Morgen gaan we naar Amsterdam.After fronting, subject-verb inversion is required (V2 rule).
Dat boek ik heb al gelezen.Dat boek heb ik al gelezen.The verb must be in second position after a fronted element.
Zelden ik heb zoiets gezien.Zelden heb ik zoiets gezien.Negative adverbs like zelden trigger inversion when fronted.
In de jaren negentig alles was anders.In de jaren negentig was alles anders.After a fronted prepositional phrase, verb-subject inversion is required.
Van die film ik weet niets.Van die film weet ik niets.All fronted elements trigger V2 inversion without exception.
