  • That's an interesting point... → para ganar tiempo ante una pregunta difícil
  • Let me think about that for a moment... → explícito, honesto y perfectamente aceptable
  • Well, the thing is...

  • What I'm trying to say is... → reenfoca tu discurso
  • In other words... → simplifica lo que acabas de decir
  • To put it differently...

  • But coming back to the main point... → retorno explícito
  • That said... → transición suave
  • Anyway, what I really wanted to say was... → pivote natural

Expresiones

  • That's an interesting point...Ganar tiempo tras una pregunta
  • Let me think about that...Pedir un momento para reflexionar
  • What I'm trying to say is...Reformular cuando pierdes el hilo
  • Off the top of my head...Responder espontáneamente sin certeza
  • But coming back to the main pointVolver al tema tras una digresión
  • If I'm not mistaken...Introducir una idea de forma prudente al improvisar
  • To put it another way...Reformular una idea para ganar tiempo manteniendo la coherencia
  • I hadn't considered that angle, but...Reconocer un punto de vista inesperado sin perder el control

Errores frecuentes

  • I think that... how to say...
What I'm trying to say is...

  • Let me elaborate on this topic more further
    Let me elaborate on this

« More further » es redundante. « Elaborate » ya implica la idea de desarrollar.

  • I will make a tangent here
I'll go off on a tangent here

No se « hace » una tangente en inglés. La expresión idiomática es « go off on a tangent ».

  • On the top of my head
Off the top of my head

La preposición correcta es « off », no « on ». Es una expresión fija.

  • I don't know how to say this but basically it's like...
    What I'm getting at is...

Acumular vacilaciones (I don't know, basically, like) delata falta de confianza.

  • Sorry, I lost my thread. Where was I?
To circle back to my earlier point...
