El pasado simple de los verbos irregulares
Muchos verbos ingleses muy comunes tienen formas irregulares en pasado. ¡No siguen ninguna regla! Hay que memorizarlos.
Lista de irregulares esenciales
- *go → went* → fui / fue
- *eat → ate* → comí / comió
- *see → saw* → vi / vio
- *have → had* → tuve / tuvo
- *take → took* → tomé / tomó
- *drive → drove* → conduje / condujo
- *swim → swam* → nadé / nadó
- *sleep → slept* → dormí / durmió
- *spend → spent* → pasé / pasó (tiempo)
- *meet → met* → conocí / conoció
Forma afirmativa (igual que los regulares)
- *We went to the countryside last weekend.* → Fuimos al campo el fin de semana pasado.
- *I ate a huge breakfast.* → Comí un desayuno enorme.
Forma negativa e interrogativa
Son iguales que con los verbos regulares:
- *I didn't go...* → No fui...
- *Did you see...?* → ¿Viste...?
Atención: en la negación e interrogación, el verbo vuelve al infinitivo:
- *Did you go?* ✓ (no *Did you went?*)

- I even swam in the river!Enfatizar algo inesperado que hiciste

Errores frecuentes
We goed to the countrysideWe went to the countrysideGo es irregular: su pasado es went, no goed.
Did you went to the beach?Did you go to the beach?Después de did, el verbo vuelve al infinitivo: go (no went).
I eated a big lunchI ate a big lunchEat es irregular: su pasado es ate, no eated.
She didn't saw the filmShe didn't see the filmDespués de didn't, el verbo va en infinitivo: see (no saw).
