Das Futur im Englischen: will vs. going to

Um einen Roadtrip zu organisieren, musst du über Pläne und Entscheidungen sprechen. Das Englische hat dafür zwei Hauptformen.

Going to — im Voraus getroffene Pläne

be + going to + Infinitiv

Nutze going to, wenn du dich schon vorher entschieden hast:

  • We are going to visit the Scottish Highlands. → Wir werden die schottischen Highlands besuchen.
  • She is going to book the campsites in advance. → Sie wird die Campingplätze im Voraus buchen.
  • I am going to drive the first leg. → Ich werde die erste Etappe fahren.

Will — spontane Entscheidungen und Versprechen

will + Infinitiv

Nutze will für eine Entscheidung im Moment des Sprechens oder für ein Versprechen:

  • "We need fuel." — "I'll stop at the next service station." (spontane Entscheidung)
  • I'll help you plan the route. (Versprechen)
  • Don't worry — it will be an amazing trip! (allgemeine Vorhersage)

Vorhersagen: going to vs. will

  • Going to = sichtbarer Beweis: Look at the map — we're going to get lost!
  • Will = persönliche Meinung, Überzeugung: I think it will be the best trip of our lives.

Konkrete Beispiele

Bei einem bereits organisierten Plan nutzt man going to, nicht will.

Für ein spontanes Angebot im Moment des Sprechens nutzt man will, nicht going to.

  • It going to rain — look at the clouds.
It is going to rain — look at those clouds.

Vor going to steht immer eine korrekt konjugierte Form von to be (is/am/are).

I think we are going to stop in Glasgow.

Das Verb be ist in der Struktur be going to zwingend nötig – es darf nicht fehlen.

Zwischen will und dem Verb steht kein to.

  • The travel takes 3 hours
