The art of questioning in Spanish relies on two types of questions: rhetorical and Socratic. Rhetorical questions do not expect an answer and serve to persuade: ¿Acaso no es evidente que la premisa es falsa? (Is it not obvious that the premise is false?). Socratic questions guide reasoning step by step: Si aceptamos esta suposición, ¿qué se deduce? (If we accept this assumption, what follows?). For inductive reasoning: A partir de estos datos, se puede inferir que... (From this data, one can infer that...). Deductive reasoning follows the opposite logic: Si la premisa es verdadera, entonces la conclusión es lógica (If the premise is true, then the conclusion is logical). "Cuestionar" means to challenge or call into question, not simply to ask a question. Mastering these forms enables you to participate in intellectual debates with rigor and precision at the C1 level.
