Meter and Rhythm in Italian Poetry

Ungaretti's famous two-line poem Mattina ("M'illumino / d'immenso") exemplifies how a single image can carry infinite meaning. Techniques like enjambement (breaking a phrase across lines) and allitterazione create musicality even without formal rhyme.
