Language is never neutral. At C2, you can analyze how language constructs reality, shapes power, and can liberate or oppress.

Language and power:

命名权 (power of naming): whoever names a thing controls how it is perceived. Compare 打击恐怖主义 vs. 反人民的屠杀 — same event, opposite framing.
框架效应 (framing): 失业率达到5% vs. 就业率高达95% — same data, different emotional impact.
委婉语 (euphemism): 优化裁员 for mass layoffs; 附带损伤 for civilian casualties

Metaphor as cognitive tool:

时间是金钱 (time is money): structures how we talk about time as a resource
辩论是战争 (argument is war): 攻击论点/捍卫立场 — we frame debate in military terms
Alternative: 辩论是共同探索 (argument is joint exploration) — changes the entire dynamic

Critical awareness:

语言不仅是交流的工具，更是塑造现实的力量Classic statement elevating language from instrument to agent; use 不仅…更 to emphasize the second claim.
不同的框架会赋予同一事实截然不同的意涵Framing analysis in Chinese; 截然不同 (diametrically different) is precise and formal.
那些被视为禁忌的词语，往往折射出社会的权力关系Connecting taboo language to power analysis; 折射 (refract/reflect indirectly) is sophisticated.
谁掌握了话语权，谁就掌握了叙事的主导权Connecting 话语权 (discursive power) to narrative control; strong claim for critical analysis essays.

语言既是表达意义的工具，也是建构现实认知的框架
只是…工具 is the naive instrumentalist view. The correction adds the constructivist perspective: 建构现实认知的框架 (a framework for constructing our perception of reality). 既…也 shows that both things are true simultaneously.

框架的转换往往带来语义的根本位移，绝非仅仅是表达方式的差异
说话方式不同 dismisses framing effects. 框架的转换 and 语义的根本位移 (fundamental semantic shift) are the precise terms. 绝非仅仅 (far from merely) is an emphatic negation.
~~用委婉语说话是为了让人感觉好一点~~
委婉语的功能不仅在于缓和情绪，更在于对现实进行选择性遮蔽
感觉好一点 is too simplistic. The correction identifies the more critical function: 选择性遮蔽 (selective concealment of reality). 不仅在于…更在于 shows depth of analysis.
