Hedging Language (模糊语)

At C2 level, you should express doubt with sophistication:

据报道 (reportedly): distances the speaker from the claim
不排除...的可能性 (cannot rule out the possibility that...): epistemic modality
有待核实 (remains to be verified): signals caution
目前尚不清楚 (currently unclear): institutional caution phrase

Structures of Doubt

尽管...但是... (although...nevertheless...): concedes some validity while maintaining critique
即便...也不能... (even if...one cannot...): epistemic condition
所谓的"X" (the so-called "X"): scare quotes, questioning the label

Key Concepts
