Professional Experience: Talking About Your Career
已经…了 for completed milestones:
- 我已经在这家公司工作三年了。(wǒ yǐjīng zài zhè jiā gōngsī gōngzuò sān nián le) — I have already worked at this company for three years.
除了…以外 for describing roles:
- 除了日常工作以外，我还负责培训新员工。(chúle rìcháng gōngzuò yǐwài, wǒ hái fùzé péixùn xīn yuángōng) — Besides my regular duties, I also train new employees.
不但…而且… for strengths:
- 我不但有团队合作精神，而且能独立完成项目。(wǒ búdàn yǒu tuánduì hézuò jīngshén, érqiě néng dúlì wánchéng xiàngmù) — I not only have teamwork spirit but can also complete projects independently.
Useful interview expressions:
- 我对这个职位很感兴趣。(wǒ duì zhège zhíwèi hěn gǎn xìngqù) — I am very interested in this position.
- 我的优势是沟通能力强。(wǒ de yōushì shì gōutōng nénglì qiáng) — My strength is strong communication skills.
表达
- 我有三年的工作经验I have three years of work experience
- 我正在找一份全职工作I am looking for a full-time job
- 这次面试让我很紧张This interview made me very nervous
- 我上一份工作的职责是…My responsibilities in my last job were…
- 我希望能有机会升职I hope to have the opportunity to be promoted
常见错误
我以前做工程师。我以前是工程师。Use 是 as the copula when stating a profession or identity. Omitting 是 is ungrammatical in Mandarin.
我工作了十年。我工作了十年了。When describing a situation that started in the past and continues now, add a final 了 to indicate ongoing relevance. One 了 alone marks completion only.
我得到这个工作很难。我很难得到这个工作。Degree adverbs like 很难 modify the verb phrase and must precede the verb, not follow the object.
