The NVC framework in Spanish
NVC follows a four-step framework for empathetic communication.
Step 1: Observation (without judgment)
Cuando veo que llegas tarde... — When I see you arrive late...
Step 2: Feeling (express the emotion)
...me siento frustrado... — ...I feel frustrated...
Step 3: Need (identify the need)
...porque necesito puntualidad... — ...because I need punctuality...
Step 4: Request (make a request)
...¿podrías avisarme si vas a llegar tarde? — ...could you let me know if you'll be late?
Full sentence: Cuando veo que llegas tarde, me siento frustrado, porque necesito puntualidad. ¿Podrías avisarme?
This framework avoids accusations and fosters constructive dialogue.
