Noun Genders in Polish

Polish has three genders: masculine, feminine, and neuter.

Masculine nouns often end in a consonant:

  • brat (brother), syn (son), dziadek (grandfather)

Feminine nouns often end in -a:

  • mama (mom), siostra (sister), babcia (grandmother)

Neuter nouns often end in -o or -e:

  • dziecko (child)

Possessive Pronouns "My"

The word "my" changes to match the gender of the noun:

  • mój brat → my brother (masculine)
  • moja siostra → my sister (feminine)
  • moje dziecko → my child (neuter)

Tip: Learn nouns together with their gender from the start!
