Talking About the Weather in Korean
Korean weather adjectives are used like descriptive verbs and conjugate like verbs.
Asking about weather:
- 오늘 날씨가 어때요? → How is the weather today?
- 날씨가 좋아요 → The weather is good
Common weather expressions:
- 비가 와요 → It is raining (rain comes)
- 눈이 와요 → It is snowing (snow comes)
- 바람이 불어요 → The wind blows
- 날씨가 맑아요 → The weather is clear
Temperature adjectives conjugate irregularly:
- 덥다 → 더워요 (hot)
- 춥다 → 추워요 (cold)
- 따뜻하다 → 따뜻해요 (warm)
- 시원하다 → 시원해요 (cool)
ㅂ irregular verbs: 덥다 and 춥다 follow the ㅂ-irregular pattern where ㅂ changes to 워 before vowels.
