Talking About Seasons: 春夏秋冬 and Seasonal Habits
The four seasons are 春 (haru, spring), 夏 (natsu, summer), 秋 (aki, autumn), and 冬 (fuyu, winter). Together they form the compound 春夏秋冬 (shunkashūtō, all four seasons).
Expressing seasonal preferences: 一番好きな季節は春です (My favorite season is spring). Use が好きです: 夏が好きです (I like summer). Explain why with から: 桜がきれいだから、春が好きです (I like spring because the cherry blossoms are beautiful).
Seasonal activities with 時: 春の時、お花見をします (In spring, we do flower viewing). 夏になると、海に行きます (When summer comes, I go to the sea). The pattern ～になると expresses "when it becomes."
Weather descriptions: 暑くなります (it gets hot), 寒くなります (it gets cold), 涼しくなります (it gets cool). These use く + なる for い-adjectives changing state. Example: 秋になると、涼しくなります (When autumn comes, it gets cool).
