Shopping at the Supermarket
Quantifiers in Hindi:
Instead of English "a bottle of / a kilo of", Hindi uses:
- एक किलो (ek kilo) — one kilo of
- एक लीटर (ek līṭar) — one litre of
- एक पैकेट (ek paikeṭ) — one packet of
- कुछ (kuch) — some
💬 "मुझे एक किलो आलू चाहिए।" (mujhe ek kilo ālu cāhie.) → "I want one kilo of potatoes."
💬 "मुझे दो पैकेट दूध चाहिए।" → "I want two packets of milk."
Asking for items:
💬 "यह कितने का है?" (yah kitne kā hai?) → "How much is this?"
💬 "क्या आपके पास ... है?" (kyā āpke pās ... hai?) → "Do you have ...?"
Commenting on prices:
💬 "यह बहुत महँगा है।" (yah bahut mahṅgā hai.) → "This is very expensive."
💬 "यह सस्ता है।" (yah sastā hai.) → "This is cheap."

- कुल कितना हुआ? (kul kitnā huā?) — What's the total?
- थैला दीजिए। (thailā dījie.) — Please give a bag.
