Expressing Conditions with "Si"
Je cherche...
When apartment hunting, use je cherche + noun to say what you're looking for:
- Je cherche un appartement meublé. — I'm looking for a furnished apartment.
- Je cherche un deux-pièces près du métro. — I'm looking for a one-bedroom near the metro.
Si + Present Tense
Use si (if) + present tense to express conditions:
- Si l'appartement est lumineux, je le prends. — If the apartment is bright, I'll take it.
- Si le loyer est trop cher, je ne signe pas. — If the rent is too expensive, I won't sign.
- Si vous êtes disponible, on peut visiter demain. — If you're available, we can visit tomorrow.
The pattern is: Si + present tense, + present or future.
