To describe your home, use er is (there is) for singular and er zijn (there are) for plural: Er is een tuin (There is a garden), Er zijn drie slaapkamers (There are three bedrooms). When adding adjectives before a de-word, add -e: de grote keuken (the big kitchen). Before a het-word with de/het, also add -e: het grote balkon. But with een + het-word, NO -e: een groot balkon. The untranslatable word gezellig is essential — it means cosy, pleasant, and socially warm. Dutch people often describe rooms as licht en ruim (bright and spacious).
