義務と許可を表す助動詞
公共サービスでは、何が義務か、禁止か、許可されているかを理解することが重要です。
義務
- *must / have to*：強い義務 → *You must submit the form before the deadline.*（締め切り前にフォームを提出しなければなりません。）
- *need to*：実用的な必要性 → *You need to bring two forms of ID.*（2種類の身分証明書が必要です。）
義務なし
- *don't have to / don't need to*：必要ではない → *You don't have to pay — it's free.*（支払う必要はありません — 無料です。）
禁止
- *must not / mustn't*：厳しく禁止 → *You mustn't park here — it's a fine zone.*（ここに駐車してはいけません — 罰金区域です。）
- *can't*：許可されていない → *You can't apply online for this permit.*（この許可証はオンラインで申請できません。）
許可
- *can / may*：許可されている → *You can apply by post or online.*（郵便またはオンラインで申請できます。）
- *be allowed to*：権利がある → *You are allowed to bring a helper.*（手伝いの方を連れてきても大丈夫です。）

よくある間違い
You must to bring your passportYou must bring your passport「must」の後は「to」なしの原形動詞を使います：must + 動詞の原形。
You don't must pay if you're a studentYou don't have to pay if you're a student義務がないことを表す「must」の否定形は「don't have to」です。「don't must」とは言いません。
